Politically Correct... No thinking!

I was thinking about people's attitude about taking offense. We're in a society today where everything can be taken the wrong way. People are too easily offended. It's a shame how this society now has to cater to everybody's feelings. Look at welfare, "racism", religion, politics... they can no longer be expressed because people get hurt. I say it's time that everybody just SUCKS IT UP and DEALS WITH IT. I find myself having to think before I talk because of potentially offending others. My thoughts can no longer be expressed because regardless... somebody is going to get hurt. I view life this way, "If you're looking to be offended, you're going to be offended". People have made comments to me that I could have been hurt by, but instead I have made a learning experience. I have found that with my opinions, people have opposing views. This is what makes humanity so great. If there wasn't opposition, there wouldn't be progress. Each opinion allows us to view things differently. Most comments are made out of ignorance towards a certain topic. Take religion for an example. One might say that a certain church is wrong, which leads to three different outcomes for the participants of that church. 1. they don't say anything.... no defense, they just take it as it is. 2. they take offense... potentially creating a strong conflict and hatred between the two parties. 3. They take the comment, defend their point, and try to see both sides of the problem. Personally the third option is the best. People then can learn views and make decisions based on their thoughts. Many battles are based off ignorance, but if people can defend their beliefs, rather than taking offense, minds can be changed and people are smarter than they left off. I think that if people SPEAK THEIR MINDS, DON'T TAKE OFFENSE, and BE RESPECTFUL, the world would be in a much better state.

Last night I attended a dance party in a city or even state that I live in.  I was planning on having a good time and figured if I got into any trouble it wouldn't be a problem because I wouldn't know anybody.  My reputation wasn't at risk... or so I thought.  Shortly into the night I ran into a few kids that I met several years earlier.  They were nice people but I hadn't really kept in touch.  "No Big," I thought.  They won't think anything of me if I get into mischief.  More time passed and I ran into a group of girls that I met some time back through another friend from a summer camp I had attended.  This brought a sudden realization... IT TRULY IS A SMALL WORLD.  I say this because we should realize that we should watch every move we make, because we may not know who could be watching.  Boy am I glad that I kept up good standards the other night.  It would have just taken one bad move to build a bad image.  Slowly word spreads and before you know it... everybody knows.  Look at the digital age.  Thousands of pictures are uploaded to facebook, myspace, photobucket, and many other websites.  If we don't watch what we do, some of those bad decisions could soon end up on the public domain of the internet.  Employers and schools are starting to use social networking sites to get more background information on potential workers or students.  A resume may look good, but if there are signs of a trash talker, a partyer, or anything else that could be threatening to the company's image, I doubt that anyone will hire that person.  I'm just saying to watch what you do.  Make wise decisions and stay in the right places at the right times.  If these things are accomplished, life will be much easier down the road.

Dear America, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 232 years and still going.  I am proud to say that I AM AN AMERICAN!  Unfortunately, we are in a time where everyone is pessimistic about the past, present, and future of this wonderful country.  It is hard to turn on the television and see anyone who has a joyful attitude towards America.  While growing up I have learned that everyone goes through good and bad times, but the main factor that effects the outcome is attitude.  On my wall it says "Attitude determines your Altitude."  I find that this phrase works almost all of the time.  This lesson not only applies to individuals, but it applies to the United States as well.  Remember, this is a country that is based off three simple words, "WE THE PEOPLE".  Sure, our country may not be in the best of times, but it has seen much worse.  We can't allow ourselves to bring out the bad in America, but we should be prideful of all the good America has done.  Let's put the problems behind us and look forward with a smile.  Forget the problems, but not what they teach you. Some call America a "feel good nation".  Lets make it a nation where we feel good about our decisions and our heritage.  Our founding fathers were rebels with an idea that everyone could be free.  Today that freedom is taken for granted.  Their rebellious characteristics are found in "the people" today.  Power to the people! If you want change, take a stand, don't let others let you believe you are powerless.  Stop wasting your time whining about our problems and put your energy to solving them.  "It is hard to leave a footprint if all you do is tiptoe through life"--Unknown.  Take a stand and be a patriot!
